GOT A QUESTION?

THE EXPERIENCE

Please review the e-brochure and our website for all accommodation, meals and transfer details. Flights are excluded from your booking, and this is your responsibility.
We price all our experiences, tours, and transfers in US Dollars. If you would look to pay in your country’s currency, such as British Pounds – we will convert this based on Zanzibar’s local exchange rate. US Dollars fluctuate daily, so please inquire about the exact exchange rate on the day of payment.
We can accommodate up to 20 individuals and require 10 participants at a minimum for the experience to go ahead. In addition, you will receive a FULL refund or a guaranteed place on our next experience if, for any reason, our experience cannot go ahead.

Yes, you can.

Meals are included as part of your package, and you are more than welcome to purchase meals elsewhere.

Accommodation included is graded locally as 4-star, and the accommodation details are provided in the e-brochure. If you’d like to upgrade, don’t hesitate to contact us at hello@explorezanzi.com, and there will be fees involved.

We are a registered tour operator qualified to undertake tours and adventures around Zanzibar. At times, we work with partners, and they are carefully selected, so safety is not compromised. We will ensure that our qualified guides undertake every aspect of your experience, and we will always be handy to ensure your safety and well-being.
You’re in good company. Our adventures are typically made up of solo travellers and small groups of two or three friends who love adventure, pushing themselves and meeting awesome like-minded people. Once you book, you’ll be added to a WhatsApp group with your experience team.
Please email us at hello@explorezanzi.com with your dates and booking reference, and we’ll provide you with the details of your rep.
You can find more information in your e-brochure.
This depends on your airline. However, on the experience, you will only be allowed to travel with one suitcase and one backpack. Storing any excess luggage in Zanzibar is entirely your responsibility.
Your luggage will mainly be stored in the vehicle when travelling or in your accommodation.
No. You’ll need to have a larger bag suitable for all your belongings which will be transported for you, and then a small daysack to carry personal items during each day of adventure.
Your belongings will always remain safe with our team. However, we advise you to take extra precautions, such as keeping your accommodation safe and locking your luggage. ExploreZanzi.com will not be liable for any lost or stolen belongings.
Yes. We recommend you bring extra spending money for tips, meals, souvenirs and unlikely emergencies.
All of the hotels and lodges we use provide laundry services. It takes 24 hours to return laundry, so bear this in mind if you need to get some done before leaving a property.
You will be provided with safe drinking water and snacks whilst travelling. You’ll also be provided with most of your meals as described on our website and brochure. Tap water is not safe for travellers to drink in Tanzania and Zanzibar. Most hotels and lodges you’ll stay at will provide safe drinking water.
Your guides are fully qualified, English speaking and carefully selected to provide the best service possible.
This is a light adventure, easily manageable by anyone with basic fitness and able to walk for a few hours. Being able to swim will mean you get the most out of snorkelling in Zanzibar.
Our staff will always carry a basic first aid kit with medical supplies. In the unlikely instance that we cannot provide specific urgent medication, we will head to the closest pharmacy or medical unit.
We try our best to cater to individuals from all backgrounds and support them with special needs. However, we recommend you enquire with us before booking your trip to ensure we have adequate facilities available.

TRAVEL PREPARATION

There are no direct flights from the U.K. and U.S. to Tanzania or Zanzibar, with visitors likely to connect via Dubai, Amsterdam, Johannesburg, Nairobi, Doha, Muscat, Abu Dhabi or Istanbul.

Our team will provide the most efficient flight details when you book your experience with us.

This depends on your nationality. European and US nationals can quickly obtain a visa on arrival or may be required to apply for a visa online beforehand.

This can be done here:

https://eservices.immigration.go.tz/visa

Please ensure the purpose of travel is highlighted as tourism. If you’re unsure whether you require a visa or not – we can help. However, the visa process and fees are your responsibility.

We recommend checking out the country-specific information and talking to a travel nurse.

Travel insurance is compulsory for all our adventures. Your insurance should include adequate protection for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, baggage and equipment and the specific activities involved in your adventure.

Your insurance policy should also include specific Covid-19 cover, including cancellation and curtailment cover if you, your travel companion, or a close relative are diagnosed with Covid-19.

Sure can! Over 50% of our travellers travel solo; it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.

In a post by Nina Zara ‘Is Zanzibar Safe for Women Travelling Alone?’ on Safari Junkie, she says:

“… if you stay in hotels with security and use common sense, the chances are very low to have a bad experience as a solo female traveller on Zanzibar.”

Temperatures in Tanzania stay very steady throughout the year, with highs of between 25-28°C / 77-82°F and lows of 13-16°C / 55-60°F. Tanzania has two rainy seasons – the heaviest rains (known as Masika) usually fall from mid-March to May, and a shorter period (called vuli) occurs from November to mid-January. The dry season, with slightly cooler temperatures, lasts from May to October. Jump on a trip between July to September to catch the river crossings of the Great Migration, while January and February promise primarily dry weather with lots of wildlife around to make the most of the recently replenished waterholes. The temperature dial eases up in Zanzibar, staying steady throughout the year with highs of 28-32°C / 82-90°F and lows of 19-22°C / 66-71°F. Due to the Masika rains, March to early May sees daily downpours and higher humidity in Zanzibar

Yes, Zanzibar is very safe for swimming. The Indian Ocean is warm, and the waves tend to be small. In addition, Zanzibar is a popular destination for snorkelling and scuba diving.

Conditions vary from beach to beach and season to season, but many of Zanzibar’s beaches are ideal for swimming. Depending on the tides, seaweed can sometimes be in the water, particularly along the East Coast. You may also encounter sea urchins in the rocky shallows (especially at low tide). Watch where you walk and wear booties (diving boots) to protect your feet.

Indeed, we can. We specialise in creating bespoke experiences for adventurers and companies, whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple or large group.

Tips are not included in the trip cost. These are entirely at your discretion, but there is an expectation to tip for good service. Your guide will help with advice; however, we suggest the below as a guideline per person:

10 USD per person per day

Of course, you are free to tip, and the amount should reflect your perception of service and quality – a tip is not compulsory and should only be given when you receive excellent service.

Tanzania uses the three-pin UK plug sockets.
Yes indeed we can. Please let one of our team know and we’ll get this ready for you on arrival.
Of course! Our guides speak English, French, German, Spanish and Italian, and we have Mandarin and Russian translators, too (they are a very talented bunch). Simply get in touch, and we will provide a guide who speaks your language!
Swahili is the official language of Zanzibar, but English is widely spoken throughout the island. Arabic is spoken as well.
Zanzibar is predominantly Muslim and filled with mosques. In addition, there are a few churches and temples for Christians and Hindus. Please do not enter the mosques if you are not Muslim without prior permission.
